It’s never too late to embrace the call to destiny. Be ignited in your passion and walk out purpose as you learn practical ministry and bring the power of the Kingdom outside the four walls of a classroom — to transform your world.
Founded in 1998 by Dr. C. Peter Wagner, WU reflects a new paradigm for unique training in practical ministry. Unlike traditional seminaries, we focus on equipping “in-service” leaders with a hybrid online and in-person style of teaching and learning, as well as impartation and activation. When you embark on the journey with us, you will have opportunities for hands-on, practical application and Spirit-led ministry.
Wagner University positions itself in the evangelical theological stream of Protestant Christianity. We adhere to the Apostles’ Creed and to the core doctrines of the Protestant Reformation, namely the ultimate and essential authority of the Scriptures for Christian faith and practice, justification by faith, and the priesthood of all believers.
We believe that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that Jesus was born of a virgin, that He was physically raised from the dead, and that an individual’s personal relationship to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior determines that individual’s eternal destiny in heaven or in hell. The fulfillment of Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples of all nations is central to the focus of Wagner University.
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the expression of the five-fold ministry gifts of the Spirit, as well as apostolic and prophetic ministry, women in ministry and renewal in the Holy Spirit.
The Day of the Saints – WU believes in the ministry of the saints, meaning every believer is called to do the work of God’s kingdom, whether in the church, workplace or other individual spheres of influence. There is no dividing line between the pulpit and pew – we are one in the Body of Christ.
Impartation & Activation – WU’s training equips students with knowledge, revelation, and anointing to go forth in power. This impartation comes from God and flows through our seasoned faculty (mothers and fathers in the Kingdom), who minister to students out of their ascension gifts. As impartation occurs, we are dedicated to activating and releasing students in the flow of God’s anointing.
Maturity – Our goal is for all students to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, as demonstrated by the degree to which we express His character, power and love. We acknowledge that spiritual maturity and becoming more like Christ is a process. We seek to grow in a deeper, more intimate walk with the Lord, knowing we are perfected, transformed and matured in His presence.
Spirit of Excellence – Our desire is to glorify God in all we do by serving the Body of Christ with a Spirit of Kingdom excellence as we advance God’s Kingdom here on earth.
“11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
“18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
“17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of DOUBLE HONOR especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” and “The worker deserves his wages.”
We are passionate about igniting and training up new generations of revivalists and reformers who will spark a global movement of transformation. (Ephesians 4:11-13, Matthew 28:18-20)
WU is all about seeing the fivefold ministry lived out vibrantly in the body of Christ today. We want to equip leaders who will make history while walking in their divine calling and strengthening the members of the Church, as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
In 1998, Dr. C. Peter Wagner was inspired by a prophetic word to create Wagner Leadership Institute (WLI). In 2010 Dr. Wagner appointed Dr. Che Ahn as the International Chancellor. In 2017, WLI became Wagner University (WU). WU focuses on equipping in-service leaders with a revelatory style of teaching and learning, which incorporates impartation, activation, and hands-on practical application in ministry.
