On June 6, 1998, Cindy Jacobs gives Peter Wagner about starting WLI at Chuck Pierce’s birthday party: For the Lord would say, “I am going to build a seminary here in Colorado Springs. I am going to gather leaders from around the world.” And the Lord says, “My son, the curriculum that I am going to put together in this school is like nothing that has been seen before. It is going to happen quickly. The Wagner Institute is so big that you cannot imagine how big it is. For it is greater than anything you could dream of.”
November 1, 1998
C. Peter Wagner starts Wagner Leadership Institute, reflecting a new paradigm of unique training in practical ministry directed towards in-service students. Sister organization, Apostolic Counsel for Education Accountability (ACEA) is also launched by C. Peter Wagner as a creative alternative to traditional accreditation.

WLI Central expands its non-resident faculty expands to include many nationally and internationally known world class five-fold leaders:

First graduation service is held in Colorado Springs.

WLI decentralizes and expands multiple training centers both in the US and globally including Korea and Indonesia.

Approaching Peter Wagner’s 80th birthday, he hands off WLI to his spiritual sons. Che Ahn takes the help of WLI as its International Chancellor. As a result, WLI Central moves from Colorado Springs to Pasadena, CA.

First Graduation after transition to Pasadena is held in conjunction with HIM’s Leadershift Conference. WLI expands to South America (WLI Brazil) and Central America (WLI Nicaragua)
February 15, 2014
After a G2 Cruise, Peter Wagner coordinated with North American and Chinese apostles and marketplace leaders, an invitation is given to bring WLI to China. Benny Wang is appointed as the new WLI Dean to China.
March 1, 2015
March: WLI China is launched with a new cohort model, with a hybrid educational system of on-line and residential courses. Also, WLI opens training centers in Russia, Japan and Maryland, USA.
November 22, 2016
WLI holds its first graduation in mainline China, graduating 60 Chinese students. On October 21, 2016, Apostle Pioneer Peter Wagner goes on glory leaving a great legacy.

In 2017, WLI became Wagner University (WU). WU is a member of ACEA*, offers a religious degree that is approved by the Colorado State Higher Education Department and is recognized in over 25,000 Churches and organizations world-wide. *ACEA (Academic Council for Educational Accountability) www.acea-schools.org
